oh what a productive friday thus far. i have discovered that there is a restaurant called nancy chang in Worcester, MA. cool huh? i'll be sure to try it if i ever go there. i skimmed through their menu, and they charge for rice! i hate restaurants that charge for rice...what's the point?

i also finally got around to checking out this chick who i was often mistaken for while in college. apparently she's some super girl because when people met me, they'd always ask "are you THE nancy chang???" and i would sadly say, "nope". i wonder what kind of great things she has done to make herself so famous. i know she was a phD student at berkeley, studying the same thing as me. one cool thing is that i was on the TA email list because of it, not like the answers were emailed out or anything :( but i knew what the TA's were supposed to do in case of a power failure during a final :) woohoo! i should email her and encourage her to start a blog, then we can be like ameer and ameer!

interestingly enough, there was also an MBA student at our school that had the same name as eddie too. he got mistaken for him once. two people, same names, same schools, even same majors, just older. maybe they should hook up :) hahah, that'd be funny if they did.

let's see...o, this sounded like it'd be interesting, but it really wasn't, at least from what i read. but they do have a link where they sell shirts, hats, and cups that say "girls suck". all you designers should submit your stuff to the company and start your own clothing line!

hmm...pointless blog today. o well.

o! i wanna wish all of you good luck tonite! have fun too! sorry i couldn't make it :( okay, have a good weekend ya'll!

almost lunch time! yay!

do you guys know where the easter bunny came from? well, back before the days of jesus, the germans had a celebration around that time called something that sounds like easter (that's why it's called easter today). this celebration was to celebrate spring and fertility. well, since bunnies are known for their fertility, it was a symbol of the celebration and people would dress up like bunnies too, and that is where the concept of easter bunny came from.

as far as easter eggs go, that's kinda the same deal. eggs = fertility. i forget this part of the story, but it was something to the effect of the wishbone thing, but i don't think you break it or anything. i can't remember, but basically something happens involving an egg and one person will be fertile that year and the other won't. maybe i should get my story straight before i try telling it, that might help.

first of all, thanks for visiting mike! i hope you had fun...and hope everything works out in china!

i can't believe i'm still sick. this really really sux nuts. over a freakin' month! o well.

okay, i need help. how do you make friends? i feel an obligation to my male friends to make more female friends because once again, i have failed at bringing more girls to the group and only succeeded in making the sitaution worse by bringing more boys, story of my life. i feel like one of the guys, where can i meet chicks? but seriously...i work with mostly old white dudes, so work's out of the question and i don't do much else.

this is a weird age group. those who are slightly younger are too young to hang out with, yet people who are slightly older, even late 20's seems too old to hang out with, so our pool of selection is rather small. school age people have that same problem, but they've got school to meet a ton of people, but for us...where do you go? i meet plenty of people, i just can't imagine hanging out with any of 'em outside of the context of where i met them. am i making any sense? well, lemme think about this a little more...maybe it's all old people. i just kinda lump 'em all together, if you're older than thirty, you can hang out with forty year olds too...can't you? maybe not fifty, but forty can hang with fifty. hmm...i guess you'd still tend to stay in your decade, so they'd have the same problem too. is the rest of my life gonna be like this? i'm making absolutely no sense so i'm gonna stop now...but i still need help...where can i meet chicks?

i was an adam blogger for a day, blogging ten times a day. that day was just horrible...couldn't concentrate on squat. monday, tired, sick...blech.

anyway, decided since i blogged SOOOO much, i took a break, but i'm back now! did ya' miss me? =) of course!

it's friday! it's friday! yippppeeeee!!! and a whole bunch of you monkees out there are going to miami...then after that, even more monkees will have fun out there in michigan too :( i'm jealous. have fun guys. too bad i can't go...but all my vacation days are reserved for my baby. o the sacrifices of love...

sorry, got distracted. i dunno what i'm babbling about...i'm just happy that it's friday! this week has gone by SUPER slow. dunno why. it's sad, every week at work, i half-ass it and come up with some excuse like i'm sick, or i'm tired, or something else stupid and promise myself that next week'll be different...but it never is. seriously...i need to be a flower shop girl, preschool teacher, wedding planner, full-time rich housewife. i hope ya'll don't think i'm a shallow gold digger. really i'm not. i'm only joking when i say things like that. please believe me...i could live in a cardboard box with my honey and i'd still be happy. granted, not AS happy, but still happy becuase i'm spending my life with my one and only love :) (let me pause to give you a chance to puke). but at least we don't have matching snowboards like some people...sickening...pause again, my turn to puke...you guys probably wanna puke again too...so go ahead...

anyway, happy friday. have fun in miami and michigan everyone! byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

--{-@ HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING @-}--

Monday, March 18, 2002
i know i've already blogged a lot today, but i just wanted to add this. It's the cover of my company's quarterly magazine...i think they might've messed up...(for those of you who can't read it, the chinese characters are upside down). i would link it directly on my site, but like the hippo and flowers, it probably wouldn't have shown up.

well, have a happy monday everyone!

i've got monday morning can't concentrate on work syndrome, so i'm gonna blog again. i also didn't get my coffee :(

do you guys think there's anyone out there who doesn't enjoy talking about themselves? i know all of you fellow bloggers out there do because that's part of what blogging is all about...this is what I did today, this is what I think about this subject, me, me, me...

i mean, everyone likes to brag, but most refrain due to whatever reason...but who doesn't enjoy letting other people know how great they are? attention (positive) makes us feel cared about, loved, special. can anyone honestly say that they dislike those feelings? and how do we get that positive attention? by letting people know the good things about us...

it's not just words, you can "talk" about yourself through actions too. like if you're a boy and you constantly open doors for girls...that's your way of saying "i'm a nice guy" without words.

i dunno where i'm going with this...just that everyone likes to talk about themselves...especially my mom (ah ha! that's what brought up this whole issue). hmm...i guess i'll elaborate. for those of you who know my mom, there's no need to. we all know that she LOVES to talk. but last night, she had a dinner party and all night long, the only voice you hear coming from downstairs is her...telling her stories, stating her opinions, blah blah blah. and this is the way it ALWAYS is. i see a little (actually, a lot) of this trait in me as well and hope that i do a half-way decent job of repressing it. that's why my blogs are always so long...need a place to unleash! especially since i sit in a cubicle all day long by my lonely self...

to be continued...

continued from above...

anyway, so it got me thinking about the other people. and i've thought about this many times before, but do they really find her stories entertaining? i personally think her stories are stupid. probably because a good chunk of them are making fun of me and the others i've already heard a million times and am SO tired of 'em. but she never gets tired of telling them and she seems to find 'em funnier and funnier everytime she tells 'em.

i used to sit there and listen to her tell me the same things over and over, but these days, i've lost patience. as soon as she starts, i say "i know, you already told me". sometimes she has a new point to it, but i don't care, i don't wanna hear the story for the millionth-and-oneth time. is that rude of me? yes. i feel bad, but seriously...why bother? yes, it makes her happy to talk about it, to get the attention. i'm a horrible daughter.

it's so sad being a parent. i see parents often making a real effort to find something to talk to their kids about. they'll even make up things up or ask about things that they could really care less about just to get some interaction with their kids. and most kids, including me, tend to give quick one word answers so that their parents can't come up with a follow-up question, will stop bugging 'em, the "moment" will end and they can go on doing their own thing...even if it's sitting in their room staring at the wall.

y do we do this? is it really that difficult for us to be a little less selfish, execercise a little patience, and be nice to them? it'd make 'em SO happy to do something so little...but i guess we also shouldn't spoil 'em =P if we're always that way, then they'll find something else that we're not doing and it'd just be an endless cycle...better to stop the madness early.

o and i found out why those people went on celebrity boxing...they did it for charities. personally, i'd still rather just take money out of my own pocket and give it to those charities than go on that show, get beat in the head, look stoopid...but whatever makes 'em happy :)

what is it about cafe coffee that's so much better? i'm sitting here at work right now, kinda sleepy and thinking about going to get some coffee at the coffee pot, but it's just sOoOo unappealing. i'd rather get in my car, drive down the street and around the corner to starbucks, pay $3 something for coffee, drive back, and lose my parking space in the process, than get coffee pot coffee. yes, it is better, but all that much hassle better? in my opionin, sadly, yes.

i often have this urge to go through that whole ordeal to get starbucks coffee, but i usually end up getting nothing because i don't wanna go through all that trouble, yet, i still don't want that coffee pot coffee. that coffee pot coffee's not bad, but it's just not...i dunno, fun? interesting? even if they had hazelnut or something over there (which they occassionally do), it's still not that appealing. it needs to be in a paper cup with a plastic lid and a small hole for me to drink out of. someone needs to make it for me and give it to me. i bet if someone took coffee pot coffee, stuck it in one of those cups and came over to my cube and said, "o, nancy, i picked some coffee up for you while i was at starbucks" and gave it to me, i wouldn't even know the difference and would be totally satisfied and happy...

all i have to say are that the starbucks people are geniuses. they've got people going to them everyday, possibly more than once a day in some cases, paying their silly prices for foo-foo coffee when most of these people have perfectly good coffee pot coffee available to them for FREE and no hassle at work. amazing. i gotta come up with something like that so that i can retire early and devote all my time to blogging :) hahah.

i sat through an hour and a half of sexual harassment orientation the other day and my conclusion is that it's dumb. not that it's dumb but, actually, it is. i think it's dumb how people sue for everything these days. i know it's mental anguish, blah blah blah, but still...$1 million for it? i don't think so. if i could do that, why don't i go around inviting people to sexually harass me. happen a couple times and i'd be set for life! i guess it'd kinda be like those insurance fraud people. and i also don't think it's fair that the company gets sued. it's not like the company can watch the actions of every single person...and you never know what offends who and when. it's based too much on emotions and perceptions...but basically i just don't understand why people can't work these things out without having to resort to suing (how do you spell that?). i mean, i guess i know why, it's just frustrating...and stoopid.

i also gained further proof that relationships (romantic ones) are way too complicated. they were talking about how no means no. if you ask once and they say no, don't ask again, otherwise it can be considered sexual harassment (which i think is lame). even if they say something like, "not today, maybe next time." that's still a no, and you're not allowed to ask again. in real life, that's not a real no. well, kinda, it could be their nice way of saying no, trying not to hurt your feelings, but it could also be a legitimate, yes, but not this time. how do you kno?!?! so complicated. i'm glad i have a steady relationship (aaww...) no more playing that stupid game. too much headache and heartache. thank you eddie :)

see, i'm more awake now...something a little more coherent :) but i gotta go work...blech.

this morning on the way to work, the morning radio show "jeff and jer" that i often listen to had people look at that that link that i posted yesterday. they brought in a former miss hawaii who is now the weather girl for san diego cbs in the morning because they thought she wouldn't be likely to yell obscenities and made her stick her face really close to the computer screen too.

anyway, did anyone watch celebrity boxing last night? i saw parts of it but just don't understand why they would subject themselves to something like that. if they asked me to go, i wouldn't. i guess it's all in good fun.

i have nothing to say today. it's too early in the morning. maybe i'll blog again later...have a good day everyone :)

DON'T CLICK ON THE LINK UNTIL YOU'VE READ THE WHOLE ENTRY!
this was my original blog...

Alright, everyone out there who thinks they're pretty bright: Log onto this website..... Can you figure out whats wrong with the picture? Turn up your speakers, the sound is faint but will give you a subtle hint. Examine the picture very closely. Eddie sent me this site, so enjoy :)

BUT, i have to add this because i know a lot of you read blogs at work and i don't wanna anyone getting into trouble. don't go to the site if you're at work and don't have headphones. if you have headphones, use 'em, but don't turn 'em up TOO loud. this kinda gives away the purpose, but i'm too soft-hearted to do it to you guys. now nobody wants to click on it because i've scared you all, but i bet curiousity will get the better of you :P should i even post this? i feel bad. argh, i'm ruining the whole thing. o well, i'm gonna post anyway...but please don't get mad at me...

o, and adam, girls go to the bathroom in groups so that they can talk about you :) and to get reassurance that their hair is okay, their makeup is okay, and that they don't have toilet paper stuck to the bottom of their shoes. and like they say, the more the merrier!

so i went to a wedding this weekend. my mom's been to 2 weddings within the last month and it's got her going...ooh, i wanna do that, i wanna do this. don't you dare do that, don't you dare do this. please mom...it's gonna be MY wedding, you already had your turn. if you wanna do it again, either do a second ceremony for you and dad or divorce him and find someone new. that'd be cute, a second wedding ceremony. hey, i should suggest that to her! next year'll be their 25th. that's a big deal right? then she can get all her dum little ideas outta her system before mine! hahah, perfect plan...let's see if i can execute it. probably not though, she's already worried about how she's gonna pay for mine, she's not gonna wanna pay for one of her own...but it doesn't hurt to try right? i should plant the seed now and hope that it grows by her anniversary next year :)

does anyone know why in chinese culture the boy pays and why in american the girl pays? i heard that the girl should pay because really it's the girl and her mom that're coming up with all the ideas and doing what they wanna do, therefore, they pay. but i dunno, that's just something i heard. being a wedding planner would be a TON of fun! you get to plan 'em all day long everyday AND get paid for it! new dream job...wedding planner! hahah, i'm excited. i'm such a girl. o well...

Friday, March 08, 2002
wow, i'm gonna blog twice today. i'm blogging again because i was just IM'ing a friend and told him that i'd brb because i gotta pee. so this is what i wanna address...why do girls feel a need or even that it's okay to announce that you need to go pee? i'm not even gonna attempt to answer the "why do girls go to the bathroom in groups" question today. just why do we announce it?

as for me, i think i do it because other girls do. because other girls do, i feel it's acceptable. why i do it? i don't really know. maybe because it's an attention grabber? girls are definitely more attention needy than guys are in general...don't you think? if you didnt' notice they were gone, they might be offended, but this way, you have to notice because they made sure you noticed. but i don't really think that's why i do it either. i really have no clue. o well

happy friday everyone! have a good weekend!

i can only account for the generations that are currently alive, but it seems that every generation complains about the generations below them about how they are so horrible with lack of family values, respect, sense of responsibility, etc, etc...

so here are my questions: did this happen throughout time? for example, did our grandparents grandparents complain too? and their grandparents? and theirs? and theirs? (i think you get the idea)...

if not, then isn't it their own fault for dropping the ball? they didn't do a good job of raising our parents who in turn didn't know how to raise us and therefore don't really have a right to complain, right? even if they didn't drop the ball, it's still in a way their own fault for not picking it up and letting it continue rolling down the hill...

and if so (which i think is the case). then omigosh how far have we fallen?!?! and yes we look back at our grandparents generation and think geez they were so old-fashioned, blah blah blah, so then are our grandkids gonna do that to us? probably. with everything being automated these days with computers, they'll be like "what?!?! you played ATARI when you were a kid?!?!" hahah, even now we already look back and laugh.

i really really wanna be a mommy (unlike jon who can't be a mommy even if he wanted to). everytime i think about what i want for my future, it revolves around my family, especially my children. but i'm scared at the same time. i don't want screw-ups for kids. i think i'd rather have none and live life selfishly and have a lot more fun, money, and time, less headaches, gray hairs, wrinkles over screwups. therefore, i wanna pick up that ball and throw it back uphill if i'm gonna do it at all. but HOW?!?!?! no one has gotten down "the perfect parent" thing, what makes me think i can? sometimes i think it's not worth all the trouble. how sad, i'm frustrated by them already and they don't even exist yet! damn youngin's...don't know how to appreciate what we go through for them...

Thursday, March 07, 2002
does gaga really mean stupid in tagalog? somebody told me that it meant poop in spanish, but i swear that's caca, not gaga...but i guess it's close enough. dodo means poop in english, so there! hahah, i used to call him dodo popo, i bet he misses those days...i think i'll bring 'em back :) but these names weren't really meant to be used outside the family, in fact, only my mom uses it. my aunts and uncles don't, my grandparents don't, not even my dad when i really think about it. maybe he does, but if he does, he doesn't very often. funny how it's spread to EVERYONE. i know i contribute to it being spread though. but i wouldn't have done it if it wasn't already so predominantly used in the outside world in the first place. i've actually run into a few people who i considered friends who couldn't remember my real name! how sad. i guess gaga is easier to remember...or as some people say...gag (my fault too).

eddie called again this morning-woohoo! that's 2 days in a row! i'm a happy gal =)

still sick. the funniest thing happened this morning...well, not really, but kinda. i was driving to work and all of a sudden i started feeling really queasy, like i was carsick, but I'M DRIVING! can the driver get carsick? it was weird. i opened the window to get some fresh air, made it to work, still felt queasy. dropped my stuff off at my cube and turned on the computer so it looked like i was there and working and perhaps in a meeting or something, and went outside to get more fresh air. sat down in the lobby for a while and finally felt better. i don't think it's related to my sickness because i've been sick for a while now and not once have i felt queasy because of it, so i'm attributing it to carsickness...it makes a better story that way. heehee, i must be a pretty horrid driver to make myself carsick! anyone want a ride?

Wednesday, March 06, 2002
i'm really sick :( yes, i'm trying to get some sympathy here...but i still came to work. i seriously considered ditching, and i actually have a legitimate excuse this time, but i decided to come in anyway. i feel guilty for ditching work, even when i really am sick. i actually feel less guilty if i were to ditch to go boarding or something. y? maybe because i'm actually doing something vs just laying in bed doing nothing. more productive?

so the average person is supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day right? that's nuts! you'll spend all day going pee! i've only drank 3 cups this morning and have already gone pee twice, and i have to again already...that's a pee per cup! hmm...next subject!

i talked to eddie again this morning-yay! :) i love that boy.

i can't really concentrate today, as you can tell from my random subject jumping. my head is too woozie for me to form any real thoughts. i feel a little like i'm drunk, and a little like my head is detached and floating next to me. no, i'm not high, just sick.

argh. i'm gonna try to get some work done now...this was a lame post...sorry...i'm blaming it on being sick, blech.

Tuesday, March 05, 2002
thank you jon for hosting my pictures. they finally show up! yay! i dunno what was wrong before...i still have many other things i wanna do to this page, just gotta find the time...

speaking of time...no time to blog lately. i've actually been a very diligent worker lately! yay me! i think the problem before was that i was just bored out of my mind with my project. i got a new one (even though the old one's not done yet) and ever since then...good employee :) well, as good as you can expect me to be...

yesterday was dodo's bday (that's my brother for those of you who don't know. i'm gaga, he's dodo, we've got cousins name doedoe and dingdong. don't ask me what's wrong with this family, i don't even know where to begin). anyway, point is...FIFTEEN...what happened? he's still supposed to be 8!!! it's nuts.

well, back to work. i know you all miss me dearly, i'll try to keep up on blogging and hopefully keep up on working too...wish me luck!
