dude, i was just looking through some of my pictures and my friends' pictures (yes, it's another productive friday here in my little cube) and honestly, i went to an ugly school (with the exception of my friends of course). they call it berkeley-vision. it's kinda like beer-goggles, but not really. the way it works is that you just get used to seeing so many ugly people that the least ugly of the ugly start looking decent, then eventually, after enough time, you even think they're good looking. i've been gone for a while and have lost my berkeley-vision, and now looking back...geezluiz! i still think my honey is as handsome as ever though :) hahah!
but seriously, he wasn't really influenced by it (or so i would like to think). but he never went to school, walked around, etc, so it didn't effect him as much. i remember one nite i was bored and just wanted to get out of the apartment, so he took me to go get some frozen yogurt, sit outside, talk, and people watch (because he knows it's something i enjoy and he's sweet like that =P). anyway. we had been out there for about 2 minutes and he says to me, "now i remember why i never leave the apartment. people in berkeley are ugly." i didn't see it at the time because i had been infected, but looking back, i realize, he was absolutely right.
i got the chicken :)
eddie's coming back at the end of october (yippeee). we've got 2 weddings to go to on the same day. we're only gonna make it to one reception, and like i said, i got the chicken. he's getting the beef. we're skipping out on the vegetarian. my tickets are booked, his are not. i'm excited. so i've been to 4 weddings this year and everyone's color (if they had a color) was purple! i'm so mad at everyone. that's MY color. grrr... one of these coming up is also purple, and the other one isn't. maybe i'll make mine hot pink or bright orange just so that no one has my color. how about puke green? why do we always feel the need to be different. special. unique. i guess none of want to be "sheep", following blindly, not having an opinion or identity of our own. we want to stand out and be noticed. i have to admit, a lot of the things that i like or do are partly based on the fact that it's not typical. for example. hippos. that's not a typical favorite animal. everyone loves panda bears or puppy dogs, but how many people say hippos are their favorite? not nearly as many. and that is part of the reason why i like them so much. besides them being so cute. i could go into this more, but i'm tired and don't feel like it. i all of a sudden got tired and unmotivated. but i'm still happy. i now have plans to see my honey. yay :) Thursday, August 29, 2002
back to work...
my "surgery" wasn't that bad at all, it only took me about 4 hours to stop bleeding, but that was expected. i've been getting prescription after prescription of pain killers through this whole ordeal and have used none of it. well, one from each bottle out of fear but then discovered that it wasn't necessary. anyone want vicodin, codeine, prescription strength ibuprofen and tylenol? i've got it all! the only thing now is that my dentist put this pink gummy stuff over the wounds to keep food from getting stuck in it, to help protect, etc, which i think is an excellent idea, but now i've got a constant "dentist" smell/taste in my mouth and it's making me a bit nauseous. but don't worry, i'm still eating! it's not that easy to keep me from stuffing my face :) anyway, thanks for all the support everyone, but yes, it does look that bad, but thanks for telling me it looks "cute", you are all very sweet :) Tuesday, August 27, 2002
tomorrow's the big day. gonna get crown extensions :) from what the dentist told me, it sounds like the most painful thing i'll have to go through yet, but i'm surprisingly not scared. i think as i've grown older, i've become more of a baby when it comes to pain. but now that i've been through all this, i think it's more because i haven't felt pain for so long that the thought of it is a lot worse than it really is. i forgot what it felt like and didnt' really want to remember, but now that i've been forced to remember, i'm also reminded that it's really not that bad. anyway...wish me luck!Friday, August 23, 2002
wow, i've really made a mess of things this time. i've done something extremely stupid and the consequences just keep getting worse and worse...but i'll live :) and thank you dearly to all of my wonderful friends who were there when i needed them there and i'm sure they'll definitely be there to laugh at me the next time they see me :]
i hate having to depend on people. i feel so so bad when i make people do things or go out of their way because of me. sure they're my friends and of course i would've done the same for them, but it'd still be better if nobody had to be inconvenienced at all. my only contribution to the whole nite is now we all have a funny story to tell... but honestly, what the heck is wrong with me? i'm such a humungous klutz, and this has been happening since before i could walk or talk. my mom was telling me that i used to fall out of my high chair, straight onto my head, ALL THE TIME (explains a lot, doesn't it?). and they never understood how it happened because i didn't squirm, i wasn't reaching for anything, i was just sitting there quietly and BOOM! waaaahhhh! they figured it was because my head was too big and there was an imbalance in weight. the first time they discovered that i knew how to roll over was because i fell off the bed. then when i got older, i'd always count to 10 after i bumped my head (which was very often) to make sure i didn't turn dumb. regarding my two front teeth, this is the third time i've jacked 'em up. first time, i was just swinging around with one arm on the back of the couch and my other hand on a table and i fell flat on my face. my mom was just joking and said, "ha, i bet you lost your teeth" and i did. luckily those were baby teeth. next incident. riding my bike. i fell. hit my tooth on the curb, same joke came out of mom's mouth, and what do you know...my tooth was chipped. and now this. the worst one yet, and hopefully the last... so, survivor thailand has a chinese chick, but for some reason, i am 99.9% sure that she will not win. why is that? isn't that kind of sad?
i'm trying to figure out what my logic is behind this. why don't i think she'll win. well, to start with asian stereotypes...chinese people tend to be quiet, rule-abiding, not very athletic, etc., and that doesn't seem to cut it in survivor. but then i think that's more of the spoiled chinese-american stereotype (for example, most of us). i also see another type of chinese stereotype. i guess this applies more to the just came from china and haven't been spoiled yet by america. and i'm not trying to offend anyone, so i'm sorry if i do, but these are just stereotypes which i didn't make up. okay, enough with the disclaimer. anyway, this type of chinese stereotype depicts them as being really hard working, determined, smart, will do anything to be successful, maybe even underhandedness and deceitfulness, which seems like perfect survivor winner material. but even if that's the type of person she is, i still can't see her winning. i'm thinking that if that's the case, people won't like her. she won't be able to pull it off and hide it from everyone. i dunno. i think the only way an asian person might win is if they pull that sweet little innocent girl card, kinda like an asian version of neleh from the last survivor. but she didn't win either... aawww....my baby is such a sweetie. he went to a guns 'n roses concert the other day and called me so i could hear it. even though it sounded like crap over a cell phone calling long-distance...but it's the thought that counts. i got to hear the end of november rain and patience. =) no doubt was watching the concert with them too!Wednesday, August 14, 2002
i've got jury duty -- on september 11th.
i don't understand, my parents have gotten jury duty maybe once. i just turned 18 not so long ago (or so i'd like to think) and this is my third freakin' time! i think they even accidently sent it to me once before i turned 18. what the heck? i've never had to serve before though, because i was at college and i don't think it was reasonable for them to ask me to fly back for jury duty, especially at $0.15 a mile, one way, and only on the second day and after. i have a lot to say these days...but it's either so much to say that i'm too lazy to say it or not important enough to blog about (usually both are true). but just as a quick little update on life...work has been busy, but interesting. i'm actually enjoying it these days and am also very productive. i had my yearly reviews yesterday and the results were pleasantly surprising. by the way, i did not get fired like i feared i would, so yay!
i'm keeping up very well with my diet and exercise routines. results are showing (i think and hope). at least i feel really good, and that's really what matters the most in the end anyway, though looking better is always a nice a bonus :) home life: mom's being annoying. so what else is new? love life: great! still just as in love as ever :) and that is my life in a nutshell. overall, i'm a happy gal :) hope everyone else is doing as well as i am, bye! this is pretty cool...my gym is doing a commercial during my regular workout time, so maybe i'll get to be in it! now, to find the perfect workout outfit that'll hide my butt :) heehee...
also gym related, two of the trainers are gonna be fighting in vegas the same weekend we're gonna be there!!! i kinda wanna watch, but it's expensive and they aren't the trainers that i usually kick it with...so we'll see. now, onto the real topic of the day. so, when a member of the opposite sex asks you to go somewhere, is it okay to ask "is this a date or are we just hanging out?" and if it's not okay, HOW not okay is it? what's an alternative, more okay way of finding out the same information? i'm starting to get back in the loop. AIM is quite important i have realized. i talked to george on it and she caught me up on a lot of stuff. thanks! then i had dinner with jimmy, jon, adam, ameer, and hong. it was lotsa fun. thanks to you guys too! o, and in defense of jimmy's hair, it's not quite a mullet. it's more like those japanese or hongkong, maybe even taiwan, fobs with the long hair. do you guys know what i'm talking about? it's not bad. overall, i like it. |
